Code of Conduct
BSides Mumbai welcomes participants regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, neurotype, level of experience, or seniority. We work hard to make this event a safe and welcoming space for students, first-time attendees, women, LGBTQ+ folks, and people of colour, alongside the security veterans the conference is also for.
We expect every attendee, speaker, sponsor, volunteer, and organiser to follow the conduct described here - at the venue, in the workshop rooms, at the after-party, and online (Discord, WhatsApp, Twitter/X).
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes (but is not limited to) offensive verbal comments, sexual imagery in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Treat everyone with respect. Be mindful of your language and humour - what's funny inside a small group is often hurtful in a larger one. Listen when someone tells you they're uncomfortable.
Constructive technical disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks, doxxing, harassment dressed up as critique, or piling on a speaker after a talk are not.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns - please contact a member of the Core Team immediately. We will help you contact venue security, local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
Sponsors are also subject to this Code of Conduct. Booth staff, sponsor talks, and any sponsored events must follow it.
Take care of the space and equipment. If you accidentally break or damage something, it is your responsibility to repair or replace it - be careful with the venue and with other people's belongings.
If you see someone doing something they shouldn't, or you feel uncomfortable, tell an organiser right away. We will handle it discreetly in the moment - please report it to us rather than posting about it online or after the event.
Entry requires a valid ID and a purchased ticket. Anyone found attending BSides Mumbai without a ticket or without an ID card will be removed from the event immediately. We may also notify partner communities to blacklist repeat offenders from future events, and such incidents may be made public.
Participants violating this Code of Conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund, at the sole discretion of the conference organisers.
