Welcome to BSides Mumbai ("BSides Mumbai", "we", "our", or "us").
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the BSides Mumbai website, your registration for, purchase of tickets to, and attendance at any BSides Mumbai event.
By accessing our website, registering for an event, purchasing a ticket, or attending a BSides Mumbai event, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Code of Conduct.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not register for or attend the event.
1. Eligibility
Registration for BSides Mumbai is open to individuals who are legally competent to enter into a binding contract under applicable law.
By registering, you represent and warrant that:
- the information provided by you is true, complete, and accurate;
- you are authorised to use the payment method used for ticket purchases; and
- you shall comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.
2. Registration and Tickets
Registration is confirmed only upon successful completion of the registration process and receipt of payment, where applicable.
Each attendee must possess:
- a valid registration confirmation or ticket; and
- a valid government-issued photo identification at the time of entry.
Where a ticket is issued under a student category, the attendee must additionally produce a valid student identity card at the venue. Failure to produce the required identification may result in refusal of entry without any obligation to provide a refund.
Tickets are personal to the registered attendee unless transfers are expressly permitted by the organisers.
The organisers reserve the right to verify attendee information before granting entry.
3. Event Programme
While every effort will be made to conduct the event substantially as advertised, BSides Mumbai reserves the right to:
- modify the programme;
- change speakers;
- alter session timings;
- substitute sessions;
- change the venue;
- modify event dates where reasonably necessary; or
- make any operational changes required for safety, security, legal compliance, or organisational reasons.
Where reasonably practicable, attendees shall be notified of material changes in advance. Such modifications shall not constitute a breach of these Terms.
4. Admission
Admission to the event is subject to compliance with these Terms, venue policies, security procedures, and the Code of Conduct.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission or remove any attendee without refund where the attendee:
- violates these Terms;
- breaches the Code of Conduct;
- behaves in a disruptive, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, or unsafe manner;
- is found engaging in unlawful activities; or
- compromises the safety, security, or experience of other attendees.
Security screening may be conducted prior to entry.
5. Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, media representatives, contractors, and organisers are required to comply with the BSides Mumbai Code of Conduct throughout the event.
Any violation of the Code of Conduct may result in immediate removal from the event without refund and, where appropriate, reporting to the relevant authorities.
6. Alcohol Consumption
Alcohol, if served at the event, shall be consumed responsibly.
Consumption of alcohol is permitted only by attendees who are 21 years of age or older, in accordance with applicable laws in Maharashtra.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse service of alcohol to any individual at their sole discretion.
7. Photography, Videography and Media Consent
The event may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed, or otherwise recorded for promotional, educational, archival, or reporting purposes.
By attending the event, you acknowledge and consent to the capture and use of your image, voice, likeness, and participation in photographs, videos, recordings, livestreams, and related media without compensation.
Such materials may be used by BSides Mumbai across websites, social media platforms, promotional materials, publications, and future event communications.
Attendees who do not wish to be photographed or recorded should notify an organiser upon arrival. While reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate such requests, BSides Mumbai cannot guarantee complete exclusion from all recordings captured in public areas of the venue.
8. Intellectual Property
All content presented at BSides Mumbai, including logos, branding, website content, graphics, event materials, presentations, recordings, and other intellectual property, remains the property of BSides Mumbai or the respective owners unless otherwise stated.
No attendee may reproduce, distribute, commercially exploit, publish, modify, or use such content without obtaining prior written permission from the respective rights holder.
Nothing contained in these Terms grants any licence or right in relation to the intellectual property of BSides Mumbai.
9. Personal Property
Attendees are solely responsible for the security of their personal belongings.
BSides Mumbai shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, damage, or misplacement of personal property occurring before, during, or after the event.
10. Health and Safety
Attendees agree to comply with all venue rules, emergency procedures, security instructions, and reasonable directions issued by organisers or venue personnel.
Any attendee whose conduct presents a safety risk may be removed from the event.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BSides Mumbai, its organisers, volunteers, sponsors, partners, speakers, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for:
- loss of personal belongings;
- indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages;
- loss of profits, business opportunities, goodwill, or data;
- travel or accommodation expenses arising from changes to the event;
- cancellation or interruption caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control; or
- any personal injury or property damage except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing contained in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Force Majeure
BSides Mumbai shall not be liable for any delay, interruption, postponement, modification, or cancellation of the event arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- natural disasters;
- epidemics or pandemics;
- acts of government;
- civil unrest;
- terrorism;
- strikes;
- power failures;
- internet disruptions;
- venue closures; or
- any other force majeure event.
13. Privacy
Collection and processing of personal data are governed by the BSides Mumbai Privacy Policy.
By registering for or attending the event, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
14. Third-Party Services
Certain services made available through the BSides Mumbai website, including website hosting, event registration, ticketing, payment processing, and email communications, may be provided by independent third-party service providers.
While BSides Mumbai carefully selects its service providers, such services are subject to the respective terms, conditions, and privacy policies of those third parties. BSides Mumbai does not own or control these third-party services and, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, shall not be responsible or liable for their availability, performance, content, privacy practices, or handling of your personal information.
Users are encouraged to review the applicable terms and privacy policies of such third-party service providers before using their services.
15. Speaker Disclaimer
BSides Mumbai is a community-driven event that provides a platform for knowledge sharing and discussion.
The opinions, views, findings, demonstrations, recommendations, and statements expressed by speakers, panelists, trainers, exhibitors, sponsors, or other participants are solely those of the respective individuals and do not necessarily reflect the views, policies, positions, or opinions of BSides Mumbai, its organisers, volunteers, partners, sponsors, or affiliates.
The inclusion of any speaker, presentation, workshop, demonstration, product, or service at the event shall not be construed as an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or approval by BSides Mumbai.
Attendees are encouraged to independently evaluate any information, techniques, products, or services discussed during the event before relying upon or implementing them.
16. Cybersecurity and Responsible Use
BSides Mumbai is an educational cybersecurity conference intended to promote awareness, research, collaboration, and responsible security practices.
Presentations, demonstrations, workshops, tools, scripts, proof-of-concepts, technical discussions, and educational materials shared during the event are provided solely for lawful educational, research, defensive, and awareness purposes.
Nothing presented during the event should be interpreted as authorisation, encouragement, or endorsement of any unlawful activity, including but not limited to:
- unauthorised access to computer systems or networks;
- hacking or attempted intrusion;
- malware deployment;
- phishing;
- denial-of-service attacks;
- interception of communications;
- data theft; or
- any activity prohibited under applicable law.
Each attendee remains solely responsible for ensuring that any knowledge, techniques, software, or tools obtained through the event are used strictly in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and ethical standards.
BSides Mumbai shall not be liable for any misuse of information or materials presented during the event.
17. Acceptable Use of the Website
Users of the BSides Mumbai website agree not to:
- use the website for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website, servers, databases, or connected systems;
- interfere with or disrupt the operation, security, integrity, or availability of the website;
- upload, transmit, or distribute viruses, malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious code;
- engage in activities intended to overload, damage, or impair the website or its infrastructure;
- scrape, harvest, or extract website content or user information through automated means without prior written permission;
- impersonate any individual or organisation or misrepresent their affiliation with BSides Mumbai; or
- otherwise use the website in a manner that violates applicable law or infringes the rights of any third party.
BSides Mumbai reserves the right to suspend or restrict access to the website, without prior notice, where it reasonably believes that a user has violated these Terms or applicable law.
18. Amendments
BSides Mumbai reserves the right to amend these Terms from time to time.
Updated Terms shall become effective upon publication on the website unless otherwise specified.
Continued use of the website or attendance at the event following such publication constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
Subject to applicable law, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the website, or the event.
